Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, announced during a Security Council session on the Israeli-Palestinian issue that Washington would be resuming diplomatic communications with Palestine.

Such channels were closed during former President Donald Trump's rule. Greenfield said that they wish to restore the peace path and solve the existing conflict between Palestine and the occupation.

The ambassador expressed her wish to see 'Israelis' and Palestinians moving forward with the two-state solution as the best means to ensure the future of 'Israel' as a democratic and Jewish state while protecting the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people of having their own state and of living in security and dignity.

She said that President Joe Biden was resuming US aids to support economic development and humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people.
