Palestinian academics and intellectuals launched a campaign demanding the resignation of Mahmoud Abbas of all leading positions.

The intellectuals issued a statement asking the Palestinian people to remove him from his position, especially after his absence from the political scene during the recent activities in the Palestinian lands. They considered such behavior is political failure; one that is added to a longer list.

They also said that President Abbas did not visit the martyrs' families in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the occupied lands; nor did he take advantage of the situation and unite the Palestinian people ending the long division.

The most recent Intifada in Al-Quds exposed the actual paralysis of the political life of the president, his restrictions over the PLO and his hate for the resistance.
