Factions Refuse PA's Decision to Conduct Local Elections

Several Palestinian factions confirmed its rejection of the Palestinian Authority's decision to conduct local elections in the West Bank and Gaza. 

Mustafa Barghouti, the General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative, rejected to divide the municipality's elections without legislative procedures, and called for conducting comprehensive elections in parralel to the rearrangement of the Palestinian issues. 

The Popular Resistance Movement in Palestine also confirmed its rejection of the PA's decision to determine the date of elections, as it is a one-sided decision and strengthen the Palestinian division. It also called for retreating from this decision and to start a national dialogue. 

The Palestinian Al-Mujahidine Movement also refused the to conduct local elections, and emphasized the importance of the National Consensus in the national issues through serious practical measures. 

Al-Ahrar Movement considered the call for conducting local elections without national consensus as insistence on exclusiveness, dominance and underestimation of the Palestinian people.
