The Supreme Court of the Israeli occupation rejected an appeal filed by Hebron’s Municipality to stop the Israeli building works in Al-Masjid Al-Ibrahimi
The occupation claimed that those works are to ease the people’s reachability to the Masjid. Thus, the court accepted the argument and considered it does not harm the sanctity of the Masjid and its position as a global heritage.
Last April, the court refused Hebron’s Municipality order to establish an elevator in the Masjid.
Taysir Abo Sneina, the chief of Hebron’s Municipality, confirmed that the Municipality fears the repercussions of this decision.
He also confirmed that Hebron’s Municipality, through ita attorney, will keep its lawful battler against the occupation’s decision to build in the holy Al-Masjid Al-Ibrahimi.
He also stressed that the decision violates UNESCO’s principles, which confirm that Al-Masjid Al-Ibrahimi is a part of the Palestinian occupied lands.
