The Israeli occupation handed over the body of the martyr, Dr. Hazem Al-Golani, to his family in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, after being detained for more than three months.

According to lawyer Khaldun Najm, the occupation required that no more than 38 people be present at his funeral, his body not be photographed, his body be banned from being taken home for a farewell look, and that women be prevented from participating in the funeral.

The detained body of the martyr was largely frozen, apparently in a fridge of up to 40 below zero, and had not been gone out of the fridge before handing out his body. This action came as part of reprisals against the martyr's family.

Doctor Hazem Al-Golani was shot dead near Bab Al-Majlis, after attempting to carry out a stabbing operation near Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, during which an occupying policeman was wounded.
