An investigation conducted by Al Jazeera said that the bullet was fired from M4 gun, 5.56 mm caliber, noting that the bullet penetrated the helmet of Abu Aqleh. 

Al Jazeera investigation relied on military experts’ opinions, and noted that the bullet used in assassinating Shireen was armor-piercing.
