Abdel Atti: No hope for any settlement to be agreed with Zionist racist mindset.

Salah Abdel Atti, Head of the International Commission to Support Palestinian People's rights “Hashd”, confirmed that there is no hope for any settlement agreements with the Zionist racist mindset that doesn't care about the law and Palestinian rights.

This was reported on Wednesday, at the ceremony of announcing the human rights research competition entitled “International Protection of the Rights of the Palestinian People,” organized by the International Commission “Hashd,” funded by PALM Strategic Initiatives Center Palestine-Malaysia. It was attended by participant researchers and some human rights activists.

Abdel Atti said that despite Palestine’s accession to international and human rights organizations, this did not provide it with protection, as the laws of those organizations were not applied on the ground. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of respecting the international human law, which gives the Palestinian people the right to have a state, indicating that through diplomatic pressure on the so-called occupation state, this can be achieved. He also called on the UN Security Council to activate international peacekeeping forces to ensure the protection of Palestinian rights, urging to take action towards constituting "Together for Peace" formula.

Abdel Atti also condemned the double standards and the selectivity of international law enforcement. Meanwhile, he criticized the public prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, for not doing his role credibly and for slowing down the necessary investigation proceedings before the court.

He also thanked PALM Strategic Initiative Center for its funding of the contest, and said that the commission, in partnership with the Initiative Center, worked on three programs: the Human Rights Researcher, the Palestinian Cause Forum, and the Palestinian Cause Future and Struggle Forms, in order to develop the Palestinian human rights work, especially important legal research and studies.

Nuha Eleyan, the spokeswoman of PALM Strategic Initiative Center Palestine-Malaysia said: “The purpose of this contest is to upgrade the quality of the legal researches on Palestinian rights, to activate the protection mechanism, and to use them in the most proper way in support and advocacy campaigns, especially on the international level.”

Eleyan also pointed out that there are multiple confrontation fields in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and the law is one of them, so this contest was held. Additionally, the winning researches will be published, and its abstracts will be translated into both French and English languages to be published worldwide.

“The participating researches present a wealth of knowledge to be a legal and human rights reference for every researcher and supporter for the Palestinian rights, to criminalize the Israeli occupation, and activate the international accounting for the occupation's decades-old crimes,” she added.

The competition jury coordinator, Mahmud Assaf, said: “This contest was organized in order to codify the Palestinian cause and expand the circle of legal education on the rights of the Palestinian people.”

56 researchers applied to the contest; three winners were selected. Rana Hudeeb won for her research paper entitled “The International Protection Mechanisms for the Rights of the Palestinian People, the Journalists as One of the Categories Covered by Protection in the International Humanitarian Law." Reem Mansour and Mohammed Khalifa won for their research paper “International Protection between Theory and Practice”, and Haytham Al-Ghalban won for his research paper “International Mechanisms Advocating the Protection of the Right of the Palestinian People to Self-determination in International Law”.
