During a press conference, United Nations Secretary-General Stefan Dujarric's official spokesman stressed the United Nations demand for ending the practice of administrative detention of Palestinians by the Israeli occupation.

Dujarric said that the occupation should stop the policy of administrative detention, either by releasing the persons, or by charging them when there are reasons to do so. "

Dujarric noted that "30 detainees, including Palestinian lawyer Salah Hamouri, have recently suspended the hunger strike, which has continued since September, and that the United Nations is following up on lawyer Hamouri's situation.

This call follows a statement issued last week by human rights experts on the situation of Palestinian detainees, the occupation's abuse of administrative and criminal law procedures and its use of classified information against Palestinians, including human rights defenders such as Hamouri.
