During a speech at the Arab-Chinese Summit held in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, called for no government to deal with Israeli occupation that did not recognize the principles of international legitimacy.
Abbas said: "Today we miss a partner in Israel that believes in a two-state solution based on international legitimacy and signed agreements and renounces violence and terrorism, the principles to which we are committed and acting."
Nevertheless, the Palestinian Authority would not renounce its commitment to international law and looked forward to continuing to mobilize international support for the implementation of the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative and to support Palestinian endeavours to ensure recognition of the State of Palestine and full membership in the United Nations.
