Left Party, Step aside!

Last Saturday, a spontaneous demonstration surrounded by Palestinian flags and slogans such as Enough to Occupy took place. This demonstration was organized by leftist bodies, but there was no role for Gadi Eisenkot, and Yair Labid or Benny Gantz.

The demonstration was relatively successful and received considerable media attention. However, in order for this event to be intense and to make some change in the planned scenarios, the left should step aside.

The efficiency of the opposition will come after the Israeli Extremist left party understands that it is not the central mainstream that can trigger the population to come out to street. It thus must admit that it is no longer relevant to the public, take a step backwards and join those who are already able to lead it. Are the left-wing members able to grasp this?

Few of Israelis identify themselves as left-wing opinion owners. The left has shrunk while the center is the dominant. If the left insists on leadership, the center will not support it. It is time for the left-wing members to understand their place in political rank and accept the fact; the fact that the left has been replaced by the center party.

Instead of arguing who first received permits and licenses for this march, it would have been preferable to focus on a much more important issue: who should lead the liberal-secular struggle and how it should be managed for a significant achievement by the mass.
