Yoav Gallant, Minister of Defence of Israel, approved a decree allowing settlers to retake the settlement that was evacuated in 2005.

Weeks after the Knesset confirmed the repeal of the disengagement rule from 4 settlements in the area, according to Israel's Channel 7, Gallant ordered his troops to issue an order permitting settlers to reoccupy the settlement of "Homesh" in the northern occupied West Bank.

The occupation force would increase its presence there and put up military facilities as a start to the settlement's restoration, which had significant security and political ramifications.
