Our predicament right now is dire. The most powerful “state” in the region has the option to take a chance and attempt to end the political-security impasse that would ensure Israel's destruction. Israel must decide whether it wants to annex or separate from the Palestinians, draw boundaries around the so-called “Jewish state” that are well-known and accepted, or annex millions of Palestinians. This decision will determine whether Israel becomes a weak apartheid “state” that is despised, or one that is made up of half Palestinians and half Jews. Thus, the Israeli entity will get entangled in a civil war in this instance.

There are several options available. With the level of civil unrest drastically reduced, it will be possible to begin construction on Israel's future border, ease the security situation, and launch a number of economic and infrastructure initiatives in collaboration with Jordan, Egypt, and the Gulf States to help the Palestinian economy and standard of living. Consider what will occur the day after Israel declares that its goal is to accomplish the vision of two states.

The following guidelines will guide this strategy: annexation of a small portion of the West Bank, which would include the majority of the Israeli population, in exchange for giving the Palestinian Authority land of a comparable size. Moreover, the Jordan Valley will be under Palestinian sovereignty with a special security system, while Israel maintains its control over Jordan crossings and water lines. Israel needs only complete the first two in terms of the water line and numerous other details. Immediately, we will see how this will improve internal discourse, national cohesion, international standing, and the overall situation in the area regarding Iran.
