At this time of writing, the Israeli army is approaching its objectives regarding the invasion of the Jenin refugee camp, as determined by the political leadership. Basically, Israel aims to undermine the resistance's infrastructure, specified previously in the information-gathering process that took months.
Furthermore, Israel's attack on Jenin seeks to achieve deterrence and to demonstrate that the Israeli army is capable and proficient in reaching the heart of the camp and hitting the resistance with the opening strike from the air. The large troops of the Israeli occupation that invaded Jenin ultimately provided the element of surprise for the army.
The Israeli occupation government is apparently not concerned about engaging in a similar campaign neither in the West Bank nor in the Gaza Strip. Any further escalation opposing Israel's security and political interests would fundamentally serve Iran.
The Israeli army believes that Hamas is not interested in dragging the strip to the fighting arena in Jenin. Even if this analysis seems correct, the longer this campaign lasts and the higher the number of Palestinian martyrs increases, the narrower the maneuvering space becomes. Also, the pressure on Hamas to respond with rockets will increase. Although this might be not literally stated, it is estimated that the Israeli army will work on withdrawing its forces today. So far, the achievements grant Israel a comfortable exit point.
