The Israeli occupation government recently inaugurated the "Suspension Bridge" project in the Wadi Al-Rababa area south of the Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa in occupied Jerusalem.
This bridge stretches for 200 meters above agricultural lands, starting from the Silwan neighborhood and passing over the lands of the Wadi Al-Rababa neighborhood before reaching Mount Zion.
Its aim is to restrict the movement of the residents of Silwan and facilitate the access of settlers from the western part of occupied Jerusalem to the neighborhoods of the old town.
Underneath the Suspension Bridge, the government has established a tourist café and a park for settlers who continuously encroach upon the local residents in that area. Jerusalem activist Fakhri Abu Diab confirms that one of the goals of building the bridge is to alter the landscape south of Al-Aqsa and seize lands in the Wadi Al-Rababa area.
This is part of a larger settlement project aimed at Judaizing the vicinity of the Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa and the old town, as well as suffocating Al-Aqsa with Judaization projects to disconnect it from its Arab and Islamic surroundings. This is accomplished through the so-called "Holy Basin" Judaization project.
