The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that the severe water shortage in Gaza has reached critical levels.

Rosalia Polin, UNICEF’s representative in Gaza, stated that only 1 in 10 people has access to safe drinking water, meaning that 90% of the population is deprived of it. She highlighted that 1.8 million people, more than half of them children, urgently need water, sanitation, and healthcare assistance.

Meanwhile, Israel has cut off electricity supply to Gaza and has blocked humanitarian aid, including food and fuel, following the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
