Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson for the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, announced the retrieval of the body of a martyr who had been assigned to guard the Israeli captive Aiden Alexander, confirming that the fate of Alexander and the rest of the captives remains unknown.
Abu Ubaida stated that the Israeli occupation is lying about its claims of mistreating captives, accusing it of fabricating false testimonies from former prisoners in order to incite against the resistance and cover up its killing of some of its own captives and the ongoing suffering of others.
Last Tuesday, Abu Ubaida had announced the loss of contact with the group holding the soldier Alexander after a direct airstrike targeted their location.
Al-Qassam also published a video message from Alexander, in which he said:
"I’ve been a captive in Gaza for 551 days. I’ve reached a state of collapse because of the disgust I feel toward the world and the Israeli government… Every day I see Benjamin Netanyahu controlling the country like a dictator… I’ve collapsed mentally and physically."
