According to Al-Akhbar (Lebanon), the region is witnessing unprecedented diplomatic momentum ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's anticipated visit, amid intensified efforts aimed at securing a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

These efforts are accelerating through active U.S. communication with regional mediators, primarily Egypt and Qatar, in addition to backchannel talks with Hamas—though no real breakthrough has been achieved in the negotiations so far.

The paper added that if the truce is secured, the U.S. administration hopes to frame it as a political achievement to coincide with Trump’s tour of the Gulf region.

According to Egyptian officials speaking to the paper, the current proposals revolve around a short-term truce, wrapped in a broader negotiation framework that could pave the way for future talks on a comprehensive settlement, without imposing any final terms at this stage.
