The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 90% of families in the Gaza Strip are facing water insecurity, with contaminated water samples exceeding 25%.

The ministry stated that water contamination has led to the spread of numerous diseases among the population. It confirmed that more than 25% of water samples in the Gaza Strip are polluted, and 90% of desalination plants are completely out of service. Additionally, 80% of sewage treatment plants have stopped functioning, further increasing seawater pollution.

The ministry also warned that absorption pits used for sewage pose a serious threat to the aquifer, and that displaced communities are experiencing catastrophic conditions due to the lack of water sources.
