The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of an imminent collapse of the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip.

The organization stated that four major hospitals in Gaza were forced to suspend their medical services over the past week due to their proximity to evacuation zones and attacks by Israeli forces.

It noted that 28 recent attacks have targeted healthcare facilities in Gaza, bringing the total number of attacks since October 2023 to 697.

The WHO added that only 19 out of 36 hospitals are still functioning, and even these are suffering from severe shortages of medical supplies, a lack of healthcare workers, prolonged insecurity, and a rapid and massive increase in casualties.

Estimates indicate that at least 94% of all hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been either damaged or destroyed.
