Four main municipalities in the Gaza Strip have warned of a total collapse of essential services provided to residents due to a complete depletion of fuel and the ongoing war for over 20 months.

The Gaza Municipality stated that about 80% of its operational equipment has been completely destroyed as a result of direct targeting, in addition to a severe shortage of fuel, oil, and spare parts. This has led to a dangerous decline in the ability to operate sewage treatment plants and water wells.

The Khan Younis Municipality warned of "the spread of environmental and health disasters resulting from the shutdown of stations, which would lead to sewage overflow into the streets and a further spread of diseases and epidemics among citizens." It also explained that "the inability to operate water wells and desalination plants will deprive 900,000 people of access to clean and usable drinking water."

Meanwhile, the municipalities of Al-Zawaida and Al-Nuseirat in central Gaza announced a complete halt of their essential services due to the lack of fuel required to operate vital facilities, warning of catastrophic health and environmental consequences that could result from this collapse.
