Mousa Abu Marzouq, member in Hamas’ Political Bureau, participated in an online meeting titled ‘International Changes and Their Impact on the Palestinian Cause’. He said that the PA’s return to security coordination with the Israeli occupation led to the failure of the Palestinian reconciliation and national unity. He also added that no solution was reached regarding the elections because Fatah rejected all proposed options. The national consensus urged for the reformation of the PLO and holding of simultaneous elections. However, Fatah insisted on having the elections following each other instead. It even objected on this during Istanbul talks. The second option was Holding National Council elections, but Fatah also refused and insisted on holding legislative elections first, then presidential and then the National Council. He also said that Fatah wanted to take everyone to the political settlement along with the PA, which was completely rejected by the national consensus because this 26-year-old experience was fruitless. Abu Marzouq said that West Bank needs resistance, but the security coordination and devices prevent it from emerging. He emphasized that resistance ends the settlement project and prevents normalization not negotiations.
