Hisham Mehanna, spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza, said that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is still far from the desired recovery, given the limited humanitarian support and the entry of aid trucks into the Strip.
Mehanna added that the shortage of humanitarian assistance, the spread of chaos, and the failure of aid to reach those who need it most are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the Strip. He stressed the need to flood the Strip with aid covering all the destroyed sectors, whether in the healthcare system, water and sanitation infrastructure, or the acute food crisis. This must be accompanied by security guarantees that would allow relief workers to deliver humanitarian support to those in need.
Mehanna said that the staff of the Red Crescent and Civil Defense are suffering severely—first as civilians living in Gaza, and second due to their inability to safely reach those most in need, in order to save their lives.
