Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stormed the cell of prominent Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti and threatened him in front of cameras.

Ben Gvir told Barghouti: “Whoever messes with the people of Israel, whoever kills our children or women—we will erase them. You will not defeat us.”

Barghouti, 67, appeared extremely frail, reflecting the harsh conditions Palestinian prisoners endure in Israeli jails.

Previously, Ben Gvir had targeted Barghouti, ordering his transfer from Ofer Prison to solitary confinement in “Ganot” Prison at the beginning of 2024.

Marwan Barghouti, a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council, is one of the most prominent Palestinian leaders imprisoned by Israel. He has been serving 45 life sentences since his arrest in 2002.
