The Gaza Martyrs’ Bodies Committee revealed distressing findings after conducting external examinations—and in some cases internal inspections—of the bodies returned by the Israeli occupation via the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Ahmed Dhahir, head of the committee, stated that 330 bodies were examined. He reported that two bodies showed signs of surgical procedures on the abdomen, including indications of autopsy work and a stitched incision running from the upper neck down to the lower torso—procedures typically performed only by forensic specialists.

Dhahir explained that one of the bodies needed to be left to thaw before examination, during which its tissues began to deteriorate. Upon opening it, they found that some internal organs had been cut and parts were missing. He also noted that many bodies arrived without clothing or with only minimal garments, suggesting that the individuals had been alive at the time of their arrest, interrogated, and later died.

He added that several bodies showed marks of restraint in very harsh positions, including being bound with their hands behind their backs in a squatting posture. He confirmed that the bodies had been placed in refrigeration in that same position, before the usual post-mortem changes had occurred.
