UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese affirmed that there is no actual ceasefire in Gaza amid the continued killing of civilians by the Israeli occupation, considering what is happening to be part of a policy of “ethnic cleansing.”

She stressed that ending the violence requires adherence to international law, noting that the International Court of Justice has called for ending the occupation and withdrawing Israeli forces from the Palestinian territories.

Albanese confirmed that “there can be no real peace without eliminating the occupation and ending Israeli control over the lives of Palestinians.”
