Six people, including two children, were killed and others injured after parts of two buildings—previously damaged by Israeli bombardment—collapsed in Gaza City due to strong winds accompanying a new low-pressure system hitting the Strip.
The Civil Defense said that entire shelter centers were damaged and have become unfit for use, and reported an influx of patients to hospitals, especially children, due to cold-related illnesses.
The Director of Ambulance and Emergency Services in Gaza stated that the current low-pressure system destroyed all displacement tents in the southern and northern areas, with wind speeds reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour.
Thousands of people are living in tents made of nylon and thin fabric that lack even the most basic protection from rain and storms, while many others are staying on roads, in stadiums, public squares, and schools, without any means to protect them from the severe cold and strong winds.
