Major Obstacles Facing Kushner’s Gaza’s Reconstruction Vision

According to the Associated Press Agency, the vision put forward by Jared Khushner, son-in-law and Middle East Advisor to US President Donald Trump, for rebuilding Gaza is facing major obstacles.

Kushner claimed that, if security were ensured, Gaza would be rebuilt rapidly within three years, featuring the establishment of skyscrapers, a scenic coastline and a modern port. This, yet, contradicts the much longer timeline expected to rebuild Gaza, which is completely destroyed.

The UN Office for Project Services said that Gaza contains over 60 million tons of debris—enough to fill nearly 3000 container ships. It added that removing this debris would take over seven years, followed by additional time required for demining.
