Hisham Kuhail, Executive Director of the Central Elections Committee, told Sawt Falastin (Voice of Palestine) radio that President Mahmoud Abbas made amendments to the Electoral Act in order to protect the electoral process, which indicates the approach of the presidential decrees.

Kuhail said that the amendments will be available to all Palestinians in 48 hours. He said that the President decreed the elections to be held consecutively not simultaneously as the Palestinian law says, so the changes were made to the article.

In addition, the women’s participation will increase from 20% to 26%, but these amendments will be in effect for one round of elections only.
