The Jerusalem Post, citing officials in the Palestinian Authority, said that Mohammed Dahlan, leader in Fatah, will not be allowed to run for office in the upcoming elections for being convicted by a Palestinian court.
The newspaper also reported that if Dahlan goes to the West Bank, he will be immediately arrested.
The head of the Central Elections Committee said in a press conference the possibility of Dahlan's standing for elections in Ramallah, and that the law decides whether to accept or reject a person's nomination, and whether he is convicted or not.
In 2016, a Palestinian court sentenced Dahlan to three years in prison after convicting him for embezzling $16 million
