Riyadh Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, presented to António Guterres, UN Secretary General; current President of UN Secretary Council and President of UNGA the critical condition of the occupied lands of Palestine, including Al-Quds, as a result to the increase in discriminatory practices of the occupation against the Palestinian people.
Mansour said in the letters he had sent that PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of establishing 800 settlement units in the occupied West Bank, the announcement of the bidding of the construction of illegal 2500 units, and the construction of more than 450 units that will be constructed in the occupied West Bank are all clear violations of the international law and the UN resolutions. He stressed the importance of stopping such violations.
Mansour pointed to the continuous operations of the occupation in demolition, forceful evacuation, settlers’ violent campaigns against the Palestinians, and the increase of attacks and raids despite the Coronavirus pandemic.
He also spoke about the sufferings of the Palestinian prisoners, including the children, in the occupation’s jails amidst the spread of the Coronavirus and the infection of tens of them with the virus. One of the infected is Abdel-Mu’iz Al-Juba, 59, who was transported to a medical center because his health deteriorated after the infection. Mansour stressed the need for releasing the prisoners.
