Sources told Al-Sharq TV that President Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah’s leadership are seeking to nominate the prisoner Marwan Al-Barghouthi, member at Fatah’s Central Committee, to head the movement’s electoral list in the coming elections.

The sources added that Al-Barghouthi had certain conditions for running. The most important of which was being satisfied with the nominees or even choosing them. If no agreement was reached with the movement’s leadership, Marwan will run independently.

Al-Barghouthi fears heading the list that would include others whose names have been connected with failure, weakness, corruption or bad management. He insists on checking every name on the list to ensure the respect of the electors.
