Mustafa Al-Barghouti, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative, told Shehab that the decisions of the PA president Mahmoud Abbas affect the independency of jurisdiction. He urged him to take them back and noted that they will be addressed in the coming meeting in Cairo.
He confirmed that the National Initiative will take part in Cairo meeting and will present the 11 points that had been proposed earlier about guaranteeing the accuracy of the electoral process. It will also propose amendments to the Elections Act such as lowering the age of eligibility for election to 21 and solving the existing division so that it would not influence the elections.
He said that his movement will address solving the Gaza Strip issues, and agree on a joint plan to hold the elections in Al-Quds despite the occupation’s attempts to prevent them.
