Congressman Betty McCollum put forward a bill titled 'Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act' that is based on earlier legislations from two previous conferences on protecting human rights and safety of Palestinian children.

The act bans the use of aids given to the Israeli entity in arresting or mistreating Palestinian children, in financing the confiscation or destruction of Palestinian homes and properties, and in execution of annexation of Palestinian lands.

McCollum said that the USA should be responsible for the way the aids are used by the recipient countries, including the occupation; and that the occupation must stop ignoring the mistreatment of Palestinian children and families at the hands of the occupation.

The bill has received great support from representatives of alliances that include tens of American churches, J Street advocacy group, Jewish Voice for Peace, Justice Movement, right Palestinian organization, Islamic organizations and American Muslims for Palestine.
