Walla website reported that PM Netanyahu proposed to Benny Gantz, leader of the Blue and White, to head the government in rotation with Gantz as the first PM for a year, then Netanyahu for two and then Gantz again for one year.
Gantz refused his proposition stating its inapplicability as he had tried Netanyahu before, and the latter did not allow him to assume his position as prime minister.
Netanyahu's close group have been exercising pressure on him to persuade him to take turns with Naftali Bennett as prime minister. The rotation would begin with Bennett who would form a rightist government with Tkva Hadasha, headed by Gideon Sa'ar, as the deadline given for the government formation is approaching. However, Netanyahu has not approved this yet according to Walla website.
In the meantime, the Likud is meeting today to approve granting Netanyahu the jurisdiction to negotiate about the coalitions. He would be able to merge lists, grant candidates certain positions on the Likud list, and conclude agreements on entering elections under a joint list with pro-Likud Knesset parties, members or blocs.
