The Government Media Office in Gaza announced that the shelter deficit has surpassed 96%, warning of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe affecting more than 2.4 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid Israeli threats to invade Gaza City.

The office stated that “since the occupation announced it would allow the entry of tents and shelter supplies, only about 10,000 tents have actually entered Gaza — amounting to just 4% of the total need of 250,000 tents and caravans.” It emphasized that no tents or shelter supplies are currently available at the crossings, due to the restrictions imposed by the occupation on the work of international organizations.

The office further pointed out that there are no safe areas left for displacement in the south of the Strip, as the occupation army maintains military control over nearly 77% of its area. This renders any new displacement movement nearly impossible and poses a severe threat to the lives of the displaced.
