Protests Against Elections' Delay Decision in WB, GS

Apr 30, 2021 02:00 pm

Electoral lists and candidates organized protests in Ramallah against the decision to delay elections and demanded their conduct as the Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and selection of their own representatives.

Nasser Abu Khdair, candidate at Nabd Al-Sha'b, said that the delay decision came against the will of the people and the national interest. It might hinder the restructuring of the PLO and widen the gap. If the decision is made in effect, the lists would also escalate.

Representatives of 28 independent lists said in a press release before the Legislative Council Gaza that they are against any decision that calls for the cancellation or delay of elections. Hundreds of Palestinians marched in demonstrations against the elections' delay in the Gaza Strip as well.

Channel 12 said that the Israeli occupation has declared being on alert for the possibility of any escalation in response to the delay decision.
