The occupation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that its ambassador to Addis Ababa presented credentials to have the entity the observer status at the African Union.

PM Yair Lapid said, "This is a day of celebration for Israel-Africa relations" and pointed to how such move would reinforce the entity's policies in Africa and its countries

Despite popular disapproval, the entity has relations with 46 African countries and collaborates with them in the fields of development, trade and others.
