Palestinians Taking Their Rights Back and Expected Scenarios

Time is passing very quickly as new rules of engagement are imposed by the Palestinian resistance on dealing with the Israeli occupation. Amidst the recent repeated crises the Israeli community has been suffering from, the occupation’s entity is still incapable of forming a stable government. The current government failed to solve the health crisis - i.e. the Coronavirus pandemic – and the virus has spread out.

Furthermore, PM Benjamin Netanyahu created a new financial crisis mainly because of expending money on the workers whose livelihoods were affected by the insufficient protective procedures that have been taken by the government, and on the northern front (against Hezbollah in Lebanon).

Not satisfied enough, Netanyahu opened fire on the southern front, mainly Hamas as it represents the Palestinian resistance, through preventing the implementation of Qatari projects in the Strip and banning construction supplies from entry through Karam Abu Salem Crossing. As a result, the Palestinian resistance responded through firing burning balloons which cornered Netanyahu and Gantz before the Israeli community.

Insight of the Situation

Netanyahu has not been able to make a political decision that could contain the Palestinian resistance and the people of the Gaza Strip, which has been under siege for 14 years. That is, however, the opinion of the public. Netanyahu has other plans in mind, because what he aims at is heading for a fourth round of election where he wins as the sole Prime Minister in order to escape the charges pending against him. He also wants to terminate the Leftists and burry Gantz as a political figure.

It is expected that the Palestinian resistance’ reaction to Netanyahu’s decisions, mentioned above, may not stop. The balloons and tested rockets stand as a warning to the Israeli occupation. This could lead to a limited military escalation whose results will be clarified in the scenarios bellow.

Expected Scenarios

  1. Netanyahu reverses his decision on closing Abu Salem Crossing and stopping the Qatari projects; and decides to allow the entry of the Qatari grants in exchange for the resistance’ stopping the burning balloons.
  2. A military escalation takes place with limited targeting of the resistance’ locations and assets without killing people.
  3. A military escalation takes place with targeting of locations and members of the Palestinian resistance, which will be followed by the resistance’ firing highly effective rockets without reaching the peak. This way the resistance would impose new rules of engagement with the Israeli occupation.

The first scenario is the one most likely to happen, but it remains dependent on the reaction of the Israeli occupation to the burning balloons and experimental rockets fired at the sea.
