Palestinian Illusion

In the United Nations, Yair Lipid's speech, in which he announced his political vision for two states for both Palestinians and Israelis, can still be heard. But it is completely false to go for such an idea that ignores reality.

The two-state solution is expected not to be applied in the near future for two main reasons: the two national movements (Palestinian and Zionism). Both of them can't be joined in one historical resolution. Not only this, but the Palestinians as well, proved that they can't establish a country.

The main issues, such as Jerusalem, refugees, and borders, remain unresolved. Also, Israel's opinions became tougher after the second intifada, also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, and Gaza has become a staging area for rocket launches toward Israel since 2007.

Another survey in March 2022 showed that 2/3 of Palestinians think that Israel is an apartheid country, while 73% of them believe that the holy Quran contains a prophecy which says that Israel will vanish one day.

Both still have the power to resume fighting and endure the pain for the sake of achieving their political aims. Furthermore, the possibility of establishing a country is separated from the current political reality. The main failure of the Palestinian Authority lies in the fact that it can't even use its power enough to establish a country, after it lost its control on Gaza and Hamas took the stage. On the other hand, it suffers from the weakness that it has to be able to deprive the freedom fighters in the West Bank from their weapons. Hamas, as well, couldn't fulfill the strategy of power use monopoly.

Unfortunately, not every long-term conflict has a direct resolution. As with negotiations' absence, the right strategy now is to reduce the armed conflict and maintain political manipulation. This strategic purpose is also to save time until the future comes with better alternatives.
