The Palestinian Prisoners Society reported that the number of Palestinian journalists detained in Israeli prisons has risen to 55, including 50 journalists who were arrested since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
It noted that the total number of journalists who have been arrested or detained since the outbreak of the war has reached 195, the most recent being journalist Farah Abu Ayash.
The society pointed out that most detained journalists are charged with what the occupation claims to be “incitement” on social media and in the press. Others are held under administrative detention on the pretext of having a “secret file.”
Detained journalists are subjected to systematic torture, severe beatings, starvation, medical neglect, as well as ongoing humiliation and abuse inside Israeli prisons.
