The United Nations General Assembly adopted by majority the Palestinian resolution on the request for a legal advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on what is the Israeli occupation.
87 States voted in favour of the resolution, while against and 53 abstained. The Permanent Observer of Palestine in the United Nations, Riad Mansour, said that the United Nations had requested an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the violation of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, occupation, settlement and annexation, and added: "We are confident that, if you believe in international legality and international law, you will support the Court's advisory opinion at the time of its issuance."
