39 States Support Referring Occupation's File to International Court of Justice

39 countries at the United Nations demanded ‘Israel’ to cancel its punitive procedures against the Palestinians immediately. This came in response to a request for an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice about colonization and the Israeli occupation’s ongoing violations against the Palestinians.

The UN General Assembly voted in favor of a proposed Palestinian resolution demanding the International Court of Justice to give a legal opinion as to whether the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories constituted an annexation in practice.

The draft resolution requested the International Court of Justice to issue an advisory opinion to identify the legal consequences arising from Israel's continued violation of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. Moreover, its long-term occupation, settlement and annexation of territory. The majority voted in favor of the request for an opinion on the draft resolution of the United Nations.
