The Minister in the Israeli Ministry of National Security, Bezalel Smotrich, intends to declare the location on which the settlement outpost "Avitar" (Jabal Sabih) is built as state land, in preparation for its legalization and the permanent return of colonial settlers to it.

This came according to what was reported by Channel 12, noting that the Israeli Supreme Court had ruled that the settlers evacuate the “Avitar” settlement outpost to establish it on a private Palestinian land in Jabal Sabih, south of Nablus.

The channel also demonstrated that the announcement of “Avitar” comes within the prerogatives that Smotrich has now assumed, 

after his agreement to divide the prerogatives with the Minister of Security, Yoav Gallant. Furthermore, it mentions Israeli-American understandings that prevent the legalization of more settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank.
