The Israeli occupation government has officially approved a settlement construction plan in Area (E1), east of occupied Jerusalem.

The movement Peace Now, which specializes in monitoring settlement activities, said that the approval of the settlement plan in (E1) was carried out at an unprecedented speed, and includes the construction of more than 3,401 housing units, in addition to establishing a new settlement comprising 342 housing units and public buildings.

It added that "the (E1) plan is particularly deadly for the possibility of peace and for the future of a two-state solution, as it divides the West Bank into two parts and prevents the development of a ‘metropolitan corridor’ between Ramallah, East Jerusalem, and Bethlehem."

The movement also pointed out that since the beginning of 2025, the occupation has pushed forward the construction of 24,338 settlement units, including the (E1) plan.
