Under the direction of Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, the Israeli Ministry of Security approved reducing the procedures for issuing a license to carry weapons and shortening the period for issuing it.
This comes after the ministry awarded 12,000 licenses to carry weapons in recent months, despite Ben Ghafir's opposition. Only a health statement and police approval will be required when applying for a weapon license.
Last February, the number of weapon licenses issued by Ben Gvir increased dramatically, according to the Israeli "Walla" website, and Ben Gvir's instructions resulted in an increase in the number of licenses to carry weapons five times in one month, with 408 weapon licenses issued in one day.
