The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, instructed the occupation prison administration to begin deducting money from the “cantina” accounts of prisoners who visit the dental clinic to treat infections and damage to their teeth as a result of the policy of medical negligence. This was reported by the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs.
According to the commission, the prison administration set a price for each hour of treatment in the dental clinic of the prison. As long as the duration is decided by the treating doctor who follows the prisoner's condition. The time is deducted from his "cantina" account in advance, and the doctor is not allowed to exceed the specified time.
The commission also reported that this action is part of a series of punitive measures issued by the right-wing Israeli government for the prisons' administration, which is controlled by Ben Gvir.
