The Israeli occupation was not included on the "list of shame" in the United Nations' annual report for 2022 on the deaths and injuries of children in armed conflicts and wars around the world.
This is despite the fact that the same report tracks the ongoing atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians, which this year ranked second globally in terms of the number of violations, after Burkina Faso. According to the report, 975 Palestinian children have been injured and 54 Palestinian children have been killed as a result of the occupation.
It is significant that Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, is the one who chooses which nations to include on the list, sometimes known as the "list of shame" in the media.
