Amnesty International (AI) requested that Walid Daqqa, a sick Palestinian prisoner, be freed by the Israeli forces so that he might receive medical attention.
In a statement, the AI stated that Daqqa, the prisoner, "suffers from chronic lung disease and spinal cord cancer, in light of the Ramla prison clinic's lack of the necessary equipment to deal with his condition."
Heba Morayef, the director of the organization's regional office for the Middle East and North Africa, was quoted in the statement as saying that the prisoner's case is accurate, highlighting the severity of the Israeli judicial system's treatment of Palestinians, including those who are dying or have terminal illnesses, and adding that Walid's health condition was made worse by medical negligence from Israeli doctors.
