The Prisoner’s Club stated that Maher Al-Akhras has suspended his hunger strike, which lasted for 103 days, after an agreement was made with the occupation over his release on November 26. His administrative detention will not be renewed either, but he must stay the remaining duration receiving treatment until his release. The Prisoner thanked the Prisoners’ Movement that stood by his side and supported him during his strike, and thanked the Palestinian people and other Palestinian and Arab movements that showed him any form of support.
Al-Akhras is married and is a father of six children, the youngest is a six-year-old Tuqa. He was arrested the first time in 1989 for 7 months, then arrested in 2004 for 2 years, and then in 2009. He remained under administrative detention for 16 months and was again arrested in 2018 for 11 months.
