The Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the request of the so-called Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir that the topic of tightening restrictions on Palestinian prisoners be discussed in the Israeli occupation Kabant session scheduled for next Tuesday.
According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, "Ben Gvir" urged that the issue of increasing the restrictions imposed on the Palestinian prisoners be brought up at the "Cabinet" meeting. However, Netanyahu rejected his proposal out of concern about an increase in tensions both within and outside jails.
Ben Gvir made the decision on September 1 to decrease visits to Palestinian detainees' families from once per month to once every two months. This action joins one that will be put into practice today in order to stop the early release of prisoners serving shorter terms.
